The Joys of Pediatrics

This book features a collection of anecdotes
collected from pediatricians. Ranging from "kids say the
darndest things" stories, to the courageous statements of
terminally ill children, the collection will make you laugh, cry
and offers a glimpse into day-to-day pediatrics. Each month we
will feature a new excerpt from this book. More information/Order this book

From Chapter 15, The Joys of Pediatrics
In the 1950s, when I was in practice in North Carolina, I walked
into the hospital room of 5-year-old Rudy. He was standing at
the foot of his crib and greeted me with, "Hello Dr Hall.
Does your face hurt?"
Taken aback, I said, "No."
Rudy said, "Well, it's killing me!"
I liked being on a joking basis with my little friends.
Incidentally, Rudy's mother telephoned me last month. Just checking
on me after all these many years!
