. A Message from the AAP President

Welcome to our Web site celebrating the American Academy of Pediatrics’ 75th Anniversary!

In 1930, 35 pediatricians came together to form the American Academy of Pediatrics. The group felt strongly that an independent forum was needed to address children’s health issues. They were right and today the AAP is home to 60,000 members.

Over the past 75 years, the AAP has been successful in achieving, and maintaining its primary mission: “To attain optimal physical, mental, and social health and well-being for all infants, children, adolescents and young adults.”

I hope you will join us in our celebration. Browse this Web site and see how the practice of pediatrics has evolved and how children’s health today benefits from 75 years of experience.

Sincerely,

Carol Berkowitz, MD, FAAP
President
American Academy of Pediatrics
